About Dead Duck Gear ™
The first Dead Duck Gear lanyard was produced about 30 years ago, when my father first started working with leather. Years later I'm still using that old thing. Over the years our designs have changed but some things have remained the same. Our simple designs, attention to detail and meeting our customers needs.
I started manufacturing leather lanyards because I was tired of only having one option, the paracord lanyards that are on the market today. I wanted a high quality handmade lanyard, made of genuine leather at an affordable price. I also wanted something I would feel proud of owning and could pass down to my kids. Like a fine shotgun or duck call that belonged to your grandpa, which belonged to your dad and now belongs to you. I couldn't find one. So I made one for myself, then my friends and family and then their friends and family and so on.
It became pretty obvious to me that other people where looking for the same thing. So I started Dead Duck Gear.

About the Material
Our Leather:
We use only the finest top grain leather available, precision cut, stained and sealed for added protection.
Our Paracord:
The paracord we use is a standard mil-spec type III 550 parachute cord in four different colors. The benefits of paracord is that it doesn't t rot or mildew making it an all-weather material.
Our Exotic Wood:
We hand select every piece of wood for character, strength and beauty. Mexican rose wood "Cocobolo" is one of our most popular woods along with Bocote.
Our Finish:
We do not use your typical wood finish on our calls. We only use a special formulated finish that is non-yellowing, tough yet flexible coating that's clear as water, with a rock hard finish that won't crack, chip, or peel.
